How families work
What a family is on VitaBoard, and what membership does and doesn't grant.
A VitaBoard account is a family, not a single person. One family can hold two parents, several children, and a dependent adult — each with their own record.
Every member has their own record
Adding a family member creates a separate record for that person, linked into the family. It is not a sub-profile of your account. A member who can manage their own data (a teenager, an adult child, a dependent adult) can be given their own sign-in later without moving anything.
Dependents without a login
A dependent who can't manage an account yet — typically a young child — can exist with no login at all. The person who created them manages everything until the dependent gets their own sign-in.
- A login-less dependent shares the manager's 1 GB storage pool.
- A family is capped at 15 login-less dependents.
What family membership grants
On its own: nothing. Access between family members uses the same grant model as doctors — see Access within a family. Two parents can each hold full access to a child; another relative can hold none.
The single built-in exception is that whoever created a login-less dependent manages that dependent's record directly.
Handing a record over
When a dependent is ready to run their own record, invite them from the family screen. They get an email, set a password, and the record becomes theirs. History is preserved; your management access ends unless they grant it back.
