Scheduling and appointments
The organization calendar and booking on a patient's behalf.
The organization calendar
Owners, Administrators, and Secretaries get an org-wide view of scheduling and appointments across doctors, departments, and locations. Doctors and departments define their own recurring availability plus exceptions; bookable slots come from that.
Booking for a patient
Staff with the right permission can book, reschedule, and cancel appointments for patients — for example a Secretary booking a follow-up over the phone.
When a patient books (or a staff member books for them), the treating doctor is granted access to that patient's record on the standard terms: full history, 30-day expiration from the most recent appointment, revocable by the patient at any time.
What a patient can choose at booking
Depending on how the organization is set up, a patient may be able to:
- Pick a specific doctor
- Pick any available doctor
- Pick a location
- Choose an online consultation
- Take the earliest available appointment
Appointment states
Appointments move through explicit states — Confirmed, Checked in, In progress, Completed, plus No-show and Cancelled. Payment state is tracked separately. Staff act on these per their permissions; the treating doctor acts on their own appointments.
Clinical / service requests
A doctor can raise a service request — an X-ray, a blood panel — routed to the appropriate internal department, scheduled, performed, and its result attached back. The request is distinct from the appointment used to carry it out.
