Test results and trends
Order exams, record results, and read a patient's numbers over time.
The Test results tab on a patient's record is the order → result lens, from the treating doctor's side.
Ordering an exam
Search the canonical test catalogue by name (it's alias-aware, so "sugar" finds glucose) and add the tests you want, each with an optional note. If a test isn't in the catalogue you can add it on the spot. The order is distinct from any appointment used to carry it out.
If the test you need genuinely isn't there, add it — it's usable immediately while a super-admin reviews it.
Recording a result
When a result comes back, record it against the order (or self-record one the patient had done elsewhere). A result can carry:
- A conclusion / narrative
- Structured values, each with a unit — these are what make it chartable
- An attached report file (PDF, JPG, PNG)
You can mark a value abnormal explicitly; if you don't, VitaBoard flags it automatically when it's outside the reference range for the patient's age and sex.
Results are entered manually for now — there's no external lab connection in this version.
Health trends
From the Test results tab, open Health trends to see the patient's structured values — vitals and lab results together — charted over time. Pick up to five measurements; same-unit series overlay, mixed-unit series stack.
For a patient under 19 with a date of birth on file, a Growth charts view plots weight, height, head circumference, and BMI against age with the WHO/CDC P3–P97 percentile curves.
Everything here is read-only for you and grant-gated — if the patient's grant lapses, the view returns an error rather than stale data.
